Festveranstaltung Orden Pour le mérite für Wissenschaften und Künste
The “salons” were already cultural institutions in Paris when Liszt and Chopin shone in them. Half a century later, with stars such as Fauré and Debussy, they had hardly lost any of their splendor. And the “Zeitgeist” was still being celebrated here at the crossroads of the “Belle Époque” and the “Fin de Siècle”, the period in which Nadia and Lili Boulanger grew up. Even Nadia's lessons, which always took place on Wednesdays in her Paris apartment, were still part of this tradition. Volker Hagedorn - author for “Die Zeit”, “Deutschlandfunk Kultur” and the books “Der Klang von Paris” and “Flammen - eine europäische Musikerzählung 1900-1018”, among others - has devised a fictional salon especially for this homage: Christiane Paul, Ulrich Noethen and the musicians of the Trio Boulanger immerse us in a dazzling atmosphere of end times and new beginnings, taking us on a journey to the biographical stations of the Boulanger sisters.
