With the promise of the inalienable rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”, the basic idea of the “American Dream” is already rooted in the US Declaration of Independence of 1776. However, what exactly is meant by the much-vaunted “American Dream” and how it fits in with the different wishes and ideas of the individuals and their descendants who landed in the United States from all directions, motives and reasons has often been controversial and has completely ignored the situation of entire population groups. However, the utopia of a society in which a better, free and equal life is possible for everyone has existed for centuries, and not only in the USA. To mark the 250th anniversary of independence, Reginald Mobley and the lautten compagney are tracing the musical traces of the “American Dream”. With gospels and African-American spirituals, baroque arias and pop song arrangements, in their program “Coming Home With Music” they tell it as a dream of arriving, being at home and belonging - in the family, in the country or in the kingdom of heaven.
