Weihnachtskonzert des Georg-Friedrich-Händel-Gymnasiums
Composer Caroline Shaw describes herself as a “musician who moves between different roles, genres, and media, trying to imagine a world full of sounds that have never been heard before but have always existed.” Our Sunday matinee moves between pieces by the 42-year-old winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Music, and baroque works by Henry Purcell arranged for string quartet and soprano. In the middle between these epochs as well as in the middle of the the programme, you'll listen string quartet by Joseph Haydn.
Members of the Konzerthausorchester are joined by soprano Viola Blache, whose focus is on early and contemporary music. The Leipzig native writes that her “musicianship is driven by the desire for connection. I’m influenced by human relations, and by constantly crossing paths with artistic creators from diverse backgrounds.”
