After a great career as a pianist and chief conductor with other renowned orchestras in Europe and the United States, Christoph Eschenbach has been our chief conductor since the beginning of the 2019/20 season: „I was fascinated by the special history of the Konzerthaus Orchestra and its house with its ups and downs that reflects the history of Berlin.”
We gladly announce that Christoph Eschenbach has extended his contract as chief conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin for another season until 2022/23.
In the first half of the 2021/22 season, principal conductor Christoph Eschenbach will lead the Konzerthausorchester Berlin in five programmes. To kick things off, he will conduct the festive anniversary concert, postponed from 26 May to 26/27 August, as well as our Open Air at Gendarmenmarkt on 28 August. Christoph Eschenbach will also dedicate himself to Anton Bruckner’s Second Symphony, the conclusion of the Brahms cycle available on CD from September, and a concert portrait of the composer Matthias Pintscher.
