"The Sounds of Berlin" surround us day and night. They form a diverse tapestry of sound that we are usually not consciously aware of. They connect us with each other, with our city and are part of our identity as Berliners. In the livestream "Sounds of Berlin hybrid" on 28 November at 4 p.m. we will listen more closely than usual to how Berlin sounds.
Tickets for Werner-Otto-Saal and KINDL are only available in advance at the visitor service at the Konzerthaus Berlin as well as by phone and online. No tickets will be sold for the event at the Gemeinschaftsschule Campus Efeuweg.
There are not only three audiences in the three interconnected, mutually visible HUBs Werner-Otto-Saal in the Konzerthaus Berlin, Maschinenhaus in the KINDL - Centre for Contemporary Art and the auditorium of the Campus Efeuweg Community School. Everyone who loves Berlin and the sounds of the city can join in the digital space via the app reaction.link during the livestream with questions and comments.
Ensembles and artists from different disciplines and cultures will improvise live, one after the other and finally together, over a graphic video score by Florian Japp, which the artist created from photo and video submissions by Berliners who shared their typical Berlin locations with us. Another basis in the form of short animated films on the theme of Berlin identity was produced by the students of the Campus Efeuweg community school with Tobias Kipp.
The livestream will be moderated by Shelly Kupferberg (WOS), Silke Lange (LUX:NM; KINDL) and Silke Eberhard (Potsa Lotsa; Campus Efeuweg).
The livestream is free and runs here on the Konzerthaus website and on the Konzerthaus channel on twitch.
The 9th grade class of the Campus Efeuweg community school, together with Tobias Kipp, the ensembles Potsa Lotsa and LUX:NM as well as Jan Brauer from BrandtBrauerFrick, also dealt with the sounds of Berlin during a project week and made "field recordings" as well as dealing with music production. The resulting music flows into the ensembles' improvisations and is the basis of Tobias Kipp's three short animated films "People in Berlin", which will be shown in the livestream on 28 November.
In his animated film workshop, the young people explored their identity as Berliners: What are typical Berliners, what might they look like? Which neighbourhoods would they come from, which languages would they speak? The participants played through different roles and developed avatars consisting of a confident, strong self and a helpless, weak self. The figures were created from found objects in the neighbourhood. What they have to say to each other and what they could learn from each other is shown in the streamed animated films to which the ensembles improvise live.
