Festveranstaltung Orden Pour le mérite für Wissenschaften und Künste
Both Mami and Kensuke Ohira are already well-known soloists and have won major organ competitions: Mami Nagata won the International Gottfried Silbermann Competition in Freiberg in 2015, while Kensuke Ohira was awarded 1st prize at the Nuremberg International Organ Week competition in 2016. Both artists initially studied in Tokyo and then continued their training in Germany - Kensuke with Christoph Bossert in Würzburg, Mami in Ludger Lohmann's soloist class at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. They have been a married couple since 2018, but initially had to stick together over long distances, as Kensuke had become Stiftsorganist in Stuttgart, while Mami is organist in residence at the Parnassus Concert Hall in Himeji (Japan) and teaches in Kobe and Tokyo. In the meantime, however, Kensuke has been appointed to a leading organist position in Tokyo, so that the distance between them has shortened again ... The two have also been performing together as an organ duo since 2018. Their performance, which had to be postponed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic and family circumstances, presents a contrasting mix of old and new works and transcriptions for organ for two or four hands.
