The organ music for Pentecost, as heard in today's organ matinee, draws on the liturgical tradition of the centuries - whether through the use of old hymn tunes, some of which date back to the Middle Ages, or through the tradition of liturgical organ playing, whose improvisations have been incorporated into the organ compositions in a coagulated form, as it were. Olivier Messiaen's “Pentecost Mass” is a very famous example of this. In addition, Sunkyung Yun, who won two important organ competitions in 2023, will play the fragment by Isang Yun, a work by a composer from her native Korea. Bach's Prelude and Fugue in E flat major, one of the greatest works in the repertoire, forms the bracket and center of the programme.
