Over the past two and a half years, the Orchestra of the Barenboim-Said Akademie has regularly been heard at the Pierre Boulez Saal, performing works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, and others. To explore larger repertoire, the orchestra now presents its first concert outside the Akademie: for its guest appearance at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the program includes Schumann’s Cello Concerto with Kian Soltani as the soloist, Brahms’s First Symphony, and Schubert’s Overture to Rosamunde.
Founded by Daniel Barenboim in 2023, the Orchestra of the Barenboim-Said Akademie offers students the opportunity to learn the symphonic repertoire, in addition to solo and chamber works, as part of their curriculum. Since 2024, Nabil Shehata has been the ensemble’s artistic director; a longtime member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, he also served s principal double bass with the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Berliner Philharmoniker.
