C. F. Kip Winger „Conversations with Nijinsky“ Fryderyk Chopin Konzert für Klavier und Orchester e-Moll op. 11 Pause Igor Strawinsky „Le sacre du printemps“ - Ballettmusik für Orchester

Get to know our new chief conductor Joana Mallwitz at the helm of the Konzerthausorchester! On the programme: Stravinsky's „Le sacre du printemps“, which was premiered in 1913 by Sergei Djagilev's Ballets Russes at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in a choreography by the great dancer Nijinsky. The provocative ballet and the completely unfamiliar musical language made the Paris premiere audience go wild –  partly with enthusiasm, partly with indignation.

The famous scandal died down within a short time, however, and „Sacre“ became one of the great masterpieces of the 20th century. Before that, you can listen to „Conversations with Nijinsky“, which rock musician  C.F. Kip Winger wrote for classical orchestra in 2016. Chopin's highly virtuoso Piano Concerto No. 1 written by the 20-year-old composer will be performed by Chopin specialist Yulianna Avdeeva.
