Johann Sebastian Bach Ouvertüre D-Dur BWV 1069 Iván Fischer „Dance Suite - In Memoriam J.S.Bach“ - Konzert für Violine und Orchester Pause Antonín Dvořák Sinfonie Nr. 8 G-Dur op. 88

Boogie-woogie and Bach? It's not a combination that immediately springs to mind, but it works perfectly for composer and conductor Iván Fischer. His “Dance Suite - In Memoriam JS Bach,” featuring Diana Tishchenko as violin soloist, is a tribute to the Thomaskantor, with movements called Bossa Nova, Tango, Ragtime, and Boogie-Woogie. Before it is performed, our honorary conductor leads the Konzerthausorchester with Bach's own music – his fourth and last orchestral suite, in which solemn and lively dances from this long-gone era alternate, from Bourée to Gavotte to Minuet. The concert ends in the Romantic era with Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 8, which showcases the orchestral instruments in the best lyrical and melodious way – from the waltz-loving strings to the flute dancing virtuoso-like in the last movement.
