Caroline Shaw is a singer, violinist and composer. She has worked just as successfully with pop singers such as Rosalía and Beyoncé as she has with opera singer Renée Fleming and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. She was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2013 for her a cappella composition 2Partita for 8 Voices" and received a Grammy Award in 2019 for her album „Orange“ with the Attacca Quartet.
Caroline Shaw is now coming to Berlin from New York City with the percussion quartet Sō Percussion to present her collaborative album „Let the Soil Play Its Simple Part“. Her debut as a solo singer is inspired by American roots songs as well as medieval laments and James Joyce lyrics. She sings the ABBA hit „Lay All Your Love on Me“ in a tender duet with the marimba. Supported by the experimental Sō percussionists, Shaw opens up a unique world of sound and a meditation on transience.
