Artist in Residence

Welcome, Vera-Lotte Boecker

“I’m absolutely delighted to be able to call this open-plan venue in the heart of the city my musical home for a season. The residency gives me the chance to have a say in the programme myself: I can sing pieces I’m really passionate about. Being able to do something outside the context of opera is a wonderful change of pace.”
We welcome Vera-Lotte Boecker for the first time as part of her residency on 1, 2 & 3 October: “Symphonic pieces” from Alban Berg’s “Lulu” – one of her declared favourite roles – as well as arias from Verdi’s “La Traviata” and Beethoven’s “Fidelio” are on the programme with the Konzerthaus Orchestra and Joana Mallwitz.
On 3 December, the soprano will appear as a soloist with Benjamin Britten’s “Les Illuminations”, performed by the Konzerthaus Chamber Orchestra under the baton of concertmaster Sayako Kusaka.
For the title of her recital on 18 April as part of the “Unter Sternen” festival, our Artist in Residence has chosen George Crumb’s song cycle “Apparition”, which she will pair with nocturnal compositions by Schubert and Holst.
On 20 April and 2 May, you can then experience the soprano once again with the Konzerthaus Orchestra, conducted by Iván Fischer, performing songs by Richard Strauss.
Vera-Lotte Boecker will bid farewell to her residency on 26 & 27 June with works by Marianna Martines and Mozart, appearing once more as a soloist with the Konzerthausorchester, conducted by Ton Kopman.
