Peter Warlock „Capriol Suite“ Benjamin Britten „Les Illuminations“ (Arthur Rimbaud) für Sopran und Streichorchester op. 18 Pause Henry Purcell „Abdelazer“ – Suite nach der Musik zum Schauspiel von Aphra Behn Benjamin Britten „Simple Symphony“ für Streichorchester op. 4

Several times each season, a group of very committed musicians from the Konzerthausorchester comes together to form the Konzerthaus Kammerorchester. In this concert, they are led by our First Concertmaster Sayako Kusaka, who is also the ensemble’s Artistic Director. Decisions regarding the works and line-ups for the concerts are always made collectively.

With Peter Warlock’s “Capriol Suite” (1926), based on Renaissance dances, Henry Purcell’s “Abdelazer Suite” from 1695, and compositions by Benjamin Britten, we remain in Britain throughout the evening. Britten’s ‘Illuminations’, however, are based on nine poems from the collection of the same name by the French poet Arthur Rimbaud, which is characterised by its highly sensual imagery. Our Artist in Residence, soprano Vera-Lotte Boecker, who will be performing the solo part, is particularly looking forward to this.
