Rundgang
Alongside Franz Schubert and Gustav Holst’s evocations of the night sky, this cosmic recital centers on George Crumb’s song cycle “Apparition.” Inspired by Walt Whitman’s elegy “When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d,” the American composer has written a meditation on memory and universal connectedness. Through sophisticated vocal and instrumental techniques, mezzo-soprano Vera-Lotte Boecker and pianist Sarah Tysman transport the audience into ethereal soundscapes.
