Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Christoph Eschenbach

Konzerthausorchester Berlin Christoph Eschenbach Conductor Kian Soltani Cello
Franz Schreker „Nachtstück“ - Zwischenspiel aus dem 3. Akt der Oper „Der ferne Klang“ Edward Elgar Konzert für Violoncello und Orchester e-Moll op. 85 Pause Franz Schreker „Valse lente“ Franz Schreker „Romantische Suite“ für Orchester op. 14

Successful during his lifetime, later almost forgotten: Christoph Eschenbach felt that Franz Schreker's (1878-1934) multifaceted, forward-looking work deserved more attention again. With the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, he therefore released a double CD in the spring with highlights from the opera „Der ferne Klang“, among others. An interlude from this opera and two instrumental pieces by the late Romantic composer frame the famous cello concerto by Edwar Elgar (1857-1934) in this programme. The soloist of this deeply melancholic masterpiece is Kian Soltani, who is in the fortunate position of being able to perform on a Stradivarius cello named „The London, ex Boccherini“ on loan from Beare's International Violin Society.
