Fairytales stimulate the imagination. Even those of composers: Robert Schumann called his trio for the clarinet, viola and piano, so beloved of the Romantic period, „Märchenerzählungen“ - a rare instrumentation that Mozart had first chosen for his intimate and cosy Kegelstatt Trio. A nocturnal procession of fairies, a bawdy banter between mountain spirits, a travelling knight dreaming of his beloved - this and much more can be read from the „Märchenerzählungen“, which our violist Ayano Kamei brings to life with guests on clarinet, harp and piano. Jörg Widmann was also inspired by this - and wrote his piece „Es war einmal“ („Once upon a time...“).
Pupils at Albrecht Dürer Gymnasium were inspired by both compositions to create a fairytale music collage that takes a contemporary look at old fairytale wisdom as part of our participatory three-month project „Create Together“ for years 9 to 12 as part of the programme.
