Kammermusikmatinee des Konzerthausorchesters
We screen the premiere of Holger Vogt's documentary „The Composer and His Heaven – Pēteris Vasks“.
ARTE, where the film will be shown for the first time on television on 24 September at 11.20 p.m., says: „Modern, classical music that goes straight to the heart – that's what Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks stands for. All over the world, orchestras and choirs, soloists, conductors and an ever-growing audience are discovering his emotionally powerful sound creations. In 2022, Vasks was awarded the European Church Music Prize and – at the Konzerthaus Berlin – the Opus Klassik. The camera accompanies the composer over a year – composing, rehearsing and performing, in private and in nature.“
Like Pēteris Vasks, our organist in residence Iveta Apkalna is from Latvia. In the organ concert after the film screening, one of the works on the programme is dedicated to her by the composer. With a ticket for the concert, you already have free admission to the film screening, which lasts about an hour.
