WHAT WE ARE PARTICULARLY LOOKING FORWARD TO DURING THE FESTIVAL

“Gran Partita” & live techno set

Our social media manager, Eleonora Gelmetti, is looking forward to November 13:

“I love the Wandelkonzert. It’s so much fun every time because it’s so varied: In a single evening, you get to experience both the full orchestra and chamber music ensembles from the KHO, and you also get to see all three concert halls. In the Great Hall, the musicians sit right in the middle of the audience. In the Small Hall, there’s a ‘dark concert’ featuring our wind players—so close your eyes and immerse yourself completely in the music! In the Werner-Otto Hall, the percussionists play a cool piece by Steve Reich. For me, the ‘icing on the cake’ is the afterparty with a live techno set by the duo Teknoir, a project by our principal percussionist Jan Westermann and Ingo Reddemann. I’ve seen their performances several times now, and every time I’ve been totally blown away by the music and their energy.”

Danceable & encouraging

Our dramaturg, Elisa Beck, highly recommends the performance by singer Madanii, who will be performing on November 14 as part of our collaboration day with the İÇ İÇE Festival.

“On a particularly hot day in June, we were in Kreuzberg with a group from the Konzerthaus Orchestra to perform a concert with Madanii at the İÇ İÇE Festival. The atmosphere at the festival was very welcoming. Many in the audience were able to sing along to the songs by the singer, who was born in Germany to a family that had fled Iran. And it immediately made you want to dance! For me, it was the first time I heard Madanii’s music. I now have three of her songs on my annual playlist, including “Dast.” That’s an exclamation in Farsi used to cheer on dancers. The song also addresses Iran’s political history and current situation. For Madanii, it’s also an expression of her determination not to give up hope for a better future, despite the dire situation in Iran. After the concert, I learned how happy she was to perform live with an orchestra for the first time—and our musicians thought it was great, too.”

Captivating voice & great stage presence

November 19 is firmly marked on dramaturg Micha Häussermann’s festival calendar:

“La Chica, with her captivating voice and mesmerizing stage presence, is a truly special live act. Add to that the El Duende Orchestra, which creates an incredibly exciting new sound with its orchestral pop lineup—somewhere between folk, classical European influences, and jazz. Another unusual aspect of La Chica’s concerts is that she interacts a lot with the audience, encouraging them to sing along and making them part of her performance. For me, all of this together promises to be a truly moving evening in the Great Hall.”
