Is there an instrument other than your own that you would like to master?

The piano is the instrument I like at least as much as the cello. I love playing the piano when I find the time and would love to master it even more. If I had to choose an instrument that was completely new to me, I would definitely choose the trumpet – it’s a wonderful instrument!

What do you do before a concert?

Apart from making music, one of the best things about the Konzerthaus for me are my beloved colleagues! They are the reason why I really enjoy the time before concerts in our women’s dressing room and in the canteen. There, we chat, gossip, discuss things and laugh until it’s time to go on stage together.

Is there anything you would like to tell us about the individual instrument you play?

I love my cello made by Urs Mächler. When I was looking for a new cello, I was lucky that his violin-making workshop was not far from my parents’ house. From the first note on my instrument, I knew: “This one is for me!” Last summer, it was at Urs Mächler’s workshop for a tune-up. Since then, it has a mini “tattoo” – a little sun engraved on the bridge now smiles at me whenever I play!
