What do you do before a concert?

I ride my racing bike to the concert hall, have an espresso, chat with my colleagues, change and go out on stage!

What do you find particularly appealing about playing the cello?

Using the instrument to communicate with other musicians and experiencing emotional moments together on stage is certainly the greatest motivation to play an instrument. But I also enjoy the daily work on the cello, the striving for perfection and refinement.

What is your favourite dish, where do you eat it in Berlin or do you cook it yourself?

Culinary highlights are always the Japan tours – you’re spoilt for choice there and could actually eat your way through the whole day! Then when I’m back in Berlin, I like to eat boiled potatoes with quark.
