Sommerliche Führung durch das Konzerthaus Berlin
Never before had anyone dared to stage anything like it: an archaic plot, ecstatic dances and that outrageous music! The Paris premiere of Stravinsky’s “Le sacre du printemps”, choreographed by Nijinsky, ended in uproar in 1913. Yet the scandal subsided astonishingly quickly, and with “The Rite of Spring” came the dawn of the age of new music, the avant-garde, and an entirely new musical culture.
To this day, Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” continues to captivate audiences – even as a purely orchestral work – thanks to its sonic and rhythmic intensity. Our audience will be able to experience this for themselves this evening in the cleared-out Great Hall. This artistic interpretation of humanity’s ancient sacrificial rituals will be followed by a celebration of life with Sebastian Mullaert and “Circle of Life” in the form of a completely improvised live electronic set. It culminates in a collective flow devoid of any formal structure, pushing the boundaries of electronic musical improvisation.
