Sommerliche Führung durch das Konzerthaus Berlin
This concert-talk commemorates two composers from different backgrounds and with very distinct musical styles. Gustav Lewin (1869–1938) was marginalised, stripped of his rights and driven into isolation in Nazi Germany, which ultimately led him to take his own life. Lev Abeliovich (1912–1985), a Jew from Poland, was forced to flee from the German troops into the Soviet Union. Their works symbolise shattered lives and loss, but also the endurance of artistic voices in the face of persecution. The performers are horn player Bar Zemach and pianist Jascha Mentsov.
