Three years after its formation, the New York-based, Juilliard educated Isidore Quartet won the prestigious Banff Competition in 2022. The four musicians will be performing two Viennese classics and Billy Childs’ String Quartet No. 4, which they premiered in May 2026 with the subtitle “American Mosaic” It is “an examination of the troubled paradigm of race relations in America,” explains the composer. “The title of the piece is representative of my belief that America, at its best, can be a mosaic of races and cultures – a combination of diverse ethnicities working together to form an inclusive, unified, and complete nation.”
