Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Rundfunkchor Berlin, Duncan Ward
A kitchen. A married couple. Dinner is being prepared. There’s chopping, stirring, and seasoning. The table is set, glasses clink, final touches—everything must be ready before the guests arrive. Scenes straight out of real life: familiar, everyday, and sometimes wonderfully absurd.
“An Evening with the Voermans” brings these familiar routines to the stage as a choreographed interplay of rhythm, wit, and timing: a true DRUMCOM. “Drum” stands for the instruments: marimba, vibraphone, drums, cymbals—in short, plenty of percussion. “Com” stands for comedy—that is, humor, timing, friction, and the little dramas amid the everyday madness. Classically trained as percussionists and a long-married couple, Mark and Maren Voermans combine music and theater in a stunning way. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
