Akamus has enjoyed a close and influential association with early music specialist René Jacobs for many years. Together with the outstanding mezzo-soprano Sophie Rennert, they will perform arias and instrumental music from Mozart’s operas, as well as Haydn’s “Scena di Berenice”. The programme also features one of Haydn’s most famous symphonies, which owes its nickname “The Clock” to the humorous musical ticking in the second movement.

The winner of numerous awards, performing all over the world and long celebrated on our stage for its subscription series: the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin is as renowned for its authentic sound as it is for continually unearthing musical treasures from the 17th to the 19th centuries and presenting familiar works – from Bach, Handel and Telemann to Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven – in a fresh light.
