José Luis Cortell Añó
Principal French Horn- born in Valencia
- Member of the orchestra since 2024
José Luis Cortell Año studied in Valencia with Miguel Torres and in Frankfurt with Esa Tapani. In 2013, he started as co-principal french horn at Stadttheater Gießen. Since 2015, he has been principal french horn player in the Finnish National Opera Orchestra. José is a member of the award-winning Lumo Quintet. In 2016, he founded the Valencia International Music Festival, whose artistic director he remained until 2024.

Mahler and Strauss, of course.
What do you do before a concert?
I eat gummy bears.
What is your favorite dish, and where in Berlin do you eat it — or do you cook it yourself?
Being Valencian, it’s clearly the traditional Paella Valenciana. The best paella you can find in Berlin is in my own kitchen.
