An evening which forms part of the tribute to Gidon Kremer with the Kremerata Baltica under the Lithuanian Mirga Gražinyte-Tyla and four composers who are very close to Gidon Kremer’s heart. He can be heard as soloist in Leonid Desyatnikov’s (*1955) music for “Target”, a 2011 dystopian film about affluent Muscovites. Weinberg’s Symhony No. 2 from 1946 is marked by the turbulence of years of existential threat. Shostakovich finally saved his younger friend by bringing him to Moscow in 1943.
