Sofia Gubaidulina „Offertorium“ - Konzert für Violine und Orchester Nr. 1 Pause Franz Schubert Sinfonie C-Dur D 944 („Große“)

This year’s homage pays tribute the great violinist Gidon Kremer. The opening concert begins with Sofia Gubaidulina’s “Offertorium”, which she dedicated to him in 1980. Bach’s “Musical Offering” and Webern’s use of timbres inspired her to create this work steeped in Christian religiosity. Kremer says of Franz Schubert, whose Symphony No. 4 will be performed afterwards, “He strikes the inflections of my soul and has never composed a superfluous note.”

The concert will be recorded by rbbKultur and broadcasted on 3 November 2019.
