Gustav Mahler: Sinfonie Nr. 2 c-Moll („Auferstehungssinfonie“)
Konzerthausorchester Berlin Slowakischer Philharmonischer Chor Christoph Eschenbach Conductor Marisol Montalvo Soprano Mihoko Fujimura Mezzo-soprano
Gustav Mahler Sinfonie Nr. 2 c-Moll („Auferstehungssinfonie“)

Our principal conductor Christoph Eschenbach explores Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, which deals with those final things pondered: the meaning and meaninglessness of life, death – and then? Mahler composed his answer, which was ultimately consoling, between 1888 and 1894, also noting down an aid to understanding the last movement: “There is no punishment and no reward. A feeling of overwhelming love fills us with blissful knowledge and illuminates our earthly life.” On this evening, the musicians of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the wonderful voices of soloists Marisol Montalvo and Mihoko Fujimura provide you with an inkling of this sensation.
