Fazil Say frequently reacts to socio-political developments in his compositions. He wrote the cycle “Gezi Park” following protests that shook his home city of Istanbul in May 2013. When the government violently cracked down on demonstrators, the situation escalated into mass unrest and civil war-like conditions.
