Join our former Artist in Residence, pianist and composer Fazıl Say, in this edition of Klazzik on a deeply personal journey through his native Turkey. Over the course of the evening, he traces connections to the people, places and verses that have made him who he is today. In “Dört Şehir” Fazil undertakes a journey through four Anatolian cities, whose historical and cultural backgrounds appear in the mirror of his own memories. The impending waves and dramatic interjections of “Yeni Hayat” (“New Life”) echo the fluctuations of the Covid pandemic, during which he composed the piece. Finally, singer Serenad Bağcan takes to the stage with “İlk Şarkılar” – songs featuring some of Turkey’s best-loved poets.
