The fairy tale about the emperor whose vanity is taken advantage of by two deceitful weavers who make him clothes that can only be seen by intelligent and worthy people was written 170 years ago by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. Ute Kleeberg has updated the text, developing it with enchanting additions of French salon music into a musical story guided by a narrator. In our scenic depiction, the audience is seated in the midst of the festival hall of the imperial castle. Spectators become part of the court attending a performance of the royal orchestra and following the wordless dancing and acrobatic undertakings of the weavers, the minister and the clever fool. Ultimately, as we all know, the truth comes out of the mouth of a child.
