Before the Konzerthausorchester sets out for China on a ten-day trip with Lawrence Foster, it will bid farewell with a pre-tour concert featuring two works by Ludwig van Beethoven: Overture No. 1 from his opera “Leonore”, which would later become “Fidelio”. And the Piano Concerto No. 3, Beethoven’s only piano concerto in a minor key, C minor. It is in the same key that Mozart had previously chosen for one of his two C minor concerts, which were highly appreciated by the pianist Beethoven. Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor, K. 491, audibly inspired Beethoven in many ways. The soloist will be pianist Jieni Wan, who grew up in Germany and China.
