“Alles bleibt anders” (Everything remains different) is the motto of the anniversary season at Gendarmenmarkt. The Konzerthaus Berlin is taking its 200th anniversary as an opportunity to look ahead: commissioned works, new compositions and digital experiments are among the surprises that await audiences in the coming season. But also the eventful history of our concert hall in the heart of Berlin, which has experienced premieres and revolutions, bombs, fire, reconstruction and joyful celebrations, inspires us again and again throughout the season. You will be amazed at how all this is showcased in diverse ways.
Let our playlist put you in the mood for the new season!
We are convinced that music moves people and brings them together! The Konzerthaus Berlin offers an extraordinarily broad musical programme – symphony concerts, chamber music, music theatre productions, children’s concerts, early and new music, festivals and tributes to great personalities from the world of music.
Furthermore, we are committed to giving audiences, regardless of their educational or social background, the opportunity to approach classical music in an unbiased manner through a number of special concert formats. These include the enthusiastically received “Mittendrin – Right in the Middle”, where listeners take a seat in the midst of the orchestra during the concert, as well as public rehearsals of the Konzerthaus Orchestra moderated by the respective conductor, our Mozart Matinee with musical childcare and “2 x hören – Hear it Twice CONTEMPORARY”.
Most of the programmes are performed by the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. The orchestra delights its audience – including 12,000 subscribers – every season with more than 100 concerts under its Honorary Conductor Iván Fischer (Principal Conductor 2012-2018), its Principal Guest Conductor Juraj Valčuha and in collaboration with numerous renowned guest conductors and soloists. Christoph Eschenbach has been the Principal Conductor since the 2019/20 season.
