Giuseppe Verdi: "Stiffelio" - Berliner Erstaufführung
From Broadway shows to film music, from minimal music to jazz – the Konzerthaus Berlin will become a place of unlimited musical possibilities when music from the USA is showcased for 10 days on Gendarmenmarkt. American sound culture is a vibrant “melting pot” and the focus of this season’s national festival. Renowned artists from both sides of the Atlantic bring real American spirit to our halls for pioneering listeners who are interested in making discoveries.
From Broadway’s glittering stages, with its elder statesmen, George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin will turn to the hypnotic sounds of the minimal music of Philip Glass, Steve Reich and John Adams. From Frank Zappa’s orchestral suite “The Yellow Shark” and his mini-opera “The Adventures of Greggery Peccary” with the Ensemble Modern, the path guides the audience to New Orleans jazz with Dee Dee Bridgewater, a musical stop-over at the Pixar Animation Film Studio concert and then back on the road for late-night, boogie-woogie concerts with Axel Zwingenberger – the musical possibilities are (virtually) unlimited.
