This season, the Konzerthaus Berlin honours the renowned pianist Alfred Brendel with an atmospheric ten-day tribute. Concerts by friends, students and highly esteemed colleagues, film screenings, an exhibition, commemorative publication and further events present this multifaceted artist, who is also an outstanding illustrator, lyricist and essayist. It goes without saying that two of his “patron saints”, Schubert and Beethoven, will take on prominent roles during these ten days. Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Herbert Blomstedt, Lisa Batiashvili, Kit Armstrong and Quatuor Ebène are among the many musical guests.
We are very pleased that Alfred Brendel will co-design and accompany the tribute and also read from his poetic works.
Alfred Brendelt talks to Sebastian Nordmann about the homage.
